It’s the isolated track of Eric Clapton’s guitar from George Harrison’s classic (and my favorite guitar song of all time) “While My Guitar Gently Weeps” off the The Beatles White Album.

George Harrison wrote the song but he asked Eric to play the solo on the studio version.

As a result, this is one of the few times you will hear a “non-Beatle” on a “Beatles” recording.

John Lennon was going into the studio later that day with Yoko Ono to work on her upcoming release “Walking on thin Ice”. It would be the last time he would ever enter the studio.

A man who lived in Hawaii had traveled to New York City with a mission on his mind. He was not going to give up until this mission was accomplished.

He would kill John Lennon.

At approximately 10:50pm, Mark David Chapman shot Lennon four times near the entrance of the Dakota apartment building. Earlier that evening, Lennon had autographed a copy of Double Fantasy for Chapman.

Lennon was taken to the emergency room of nearby Roosevelt Hospital but was pronounced dead on arrival.

Chapman pleaded guilty to second degree murder and was sentenced to 20 years to life. He remains in prison, having been repeatedly denied parole.

Lennon’s body was cremated and his ashes were kept by Yoko Ono.

CNN Posted a very interesting article about the place John Lennon was murdered, and how it haunts so many people to this day… CLICK HERE to read the full article.

Digitally remastered versions of The Beatles recordings are being released TODAY.

TODAY is the first post on TheGuitarBUZZ to feature Tommy Emmanuel.

I have long been aware of the acoustic genius of Tommy Emmanuel. The man plays a guitar as effortlessly as I breathe air.

It seemed fitting to post something to the blog TODAY about the Fab Four and while millions of guitarists have covered Beatles tunes, nothing strikes a chord with me as powerful as Tommy Emmanuel’s Beatles Medley.

Watch Tommy Emmanuel blister through a few Beatles hits:
(Day Tripper, When I’m Sixty-Four, Lady Madonna)

MORE INFO ON THE BEATLES RELEASES: Each album will feature the track listings and artwork as originally released in the U.K. and come with expanded booklets including original and newly written liner notes and rare photos. For a limited time, each of the Beatles 12 proper albums will be “embedded” with a brief documentary about its making. The re-releases include the Beatles’ 12 studio albums and Magical Mystery Tour as well as Past Masters Vol. I and II, which will be packaged as one collection. All 14 discs will be available with DVDs of the documentaries in a stereo box set.
